Here are some frequently asked questions regarding summer studies abroad.
1. What credits do I receive from studying?
Usually you will get some sort of credit or certificate for attending your program. When choosing courses as high school or college students, it would be best if the program you attend offers college credits. If you are going to spend the money to study abroad, receiving a college credit would justify the expense.
2. How many lessons do I get in the programs?
Most programs, generally, offer "intensive Spanish courses." These "intensive courses" usually consist of 20 lessons per week. This is the standard. Additionally, most companies offer different programs that may include a sports activity, extra Spanish lessons, or culture lessons.
3. Can I attend an adult program if I am in high school?
Most adult programs want their students to be 18+. However, special exceptions are sometimes made by language schools to allow students aged 16+ to attend. So if you would prefer to enroll in adult courses, ask the company or school if they would allow you to join.
4. Where do I stay during the courses?
The accomodation is usually an on site student residence, apartment, or host family. Prices are often included in entire fee for high school students, but is often separate for adult programs.
5. Are there airport transfers?
Programs usually have airport transfers available, but a fee may apply to this service. Check with the program.
6. What can I do in my free time?
In adult and college programs students can do whatever they want. In teenage abroad programs there may be structured activities to fill up the whole day, and all the students are constantly supervised. In other programs students have the ability to wander alone by themselves however they want during their free time.
