Barcelona is Europe's busiest port city. The city is very modern and seems to have more Mediterranean influence than Spanish. It houses over 1.5 million residents, and 4 million including the entire urban area.

The 2,000 year old city boasts many popular attractions. One attraction is the Les Rambles, which is a long boulevard running from the city to the harbour. The street contains restaurants, street entertainers, and shop keepers.

Another attraction is the Barcelona's unique Gothic architecture. The city was home to Antoni Gaudí whose most famous architectual designs are the Sagrada Família Church (below) and Casa Milà.

Other noted attractions include the museums like the Museu Picasso and beaches like Sant Pol and Barceloneta.
